Grading guide
How to get cards graded in Australia
The short answer
One way to get cards graded from Australia is through a submission service that prepares your cards and sends them to the grader. The route has five steps: check the card, decide whether it needs cleaning or restoration, pick a grader, send it in, and protect the slab when it comes back. Our sister business CardRevive runs submissions to PSA, BGS (Beckett), CGC, TAG, PCG and ACE. CardRevive does not grade cards itself, and no grade is ever guaranteed. This page walks through each step and links to the right place for each one.
Step 1: Check the card
Before you pay for grading, look at the four things every grader scores: centering, corners, edges and surface. A free way to start is the CardRevive AI Grader, which reads a scan of the front and back and gives PSA, BGS and TAG style estimate ranges. Every account starts with 3 free grades. It is an estimate, not an official grade. If centering is your worry, the free centering checker measures left/right and top/bottom ratios with no login. Read what AI pre-grading checks to see what a scan can and cannot tell you.
Step 2: Clean, restore or leave it
Some cards lose points to things that can come off, like dust and fingerprints. Others have edge, corner, indent or crease damage. CardRevive separates the two: cleaning removes surface dust, fingerprints and light contamination only, while restoration adds targeted work on edges, corners, indents, gloss and creases. Any work on a card counts as alteration, and each grader decides whether it accepts it. CardRevive says that, as at July 2026, PSA lists evidence of restoration and cleaning among its No Grade outcomes. If the card does not need work, CardRevive skips the restoration fee and you pay the inspection and grading. Our guide on how card restoration works before grading explains the choices.
Step 3: Pick a grader
CardRevive submits to six graders: PSA, BGS (Beckett), CGC, TAG, PCG and ACE. Each has its own price, wait and label. CardRevive's guide PSA vs BGS vs CGC vs TAG: which grader for which card compares them, and its grading page lists current starting prices per grader.
Step 4: Send it in
With CardRevive you start a submission in the online portal, add each card with its declared value, and post the cards in from anywhere in Australia. A submission locks once it is lodged, and you can withdraw it within 24 hours. Each card is photographed front and back when it arrives and can be tracked in the portal, with an email at each stage. Cards for PSA, BGS, CGC, TAG and ACE go by DHL and usually reach the grader in 3 to 7+ business days. PCG is graded in Australia and goes by Australia Post. When graded cards come back from overseas, customs are usually A$3 to 12 per card; CardRevive pays them and adds them to your invoice (not for PCG). Your cards come home by Express Post with signature, at CardRevive's return-post price. Full details are on CardRevive's how it works page. Checked 31 October 2026. Current prices and times are on CardRevive's site.
Step 5: Protect the slab when it comes back
A slab is the proof of the grade, so it is worth keeping it safe. The Tank is a rigid acrylic case that holds the whole slab. It fits PSA, Beckett, TAG, CGC, PCG and ACE slabs and costs A$34.99. Not sure of your slab's size? Compare PSA, CGC, TAG and Beckett slab sizes first.
Questions
Can I send cards straight to PSA from Australia?
CardRevive submits to PSA for Australian collectors, so you send your cards to CardRevive and it handles the PSA order. For PSA's own rules on who can submit directly, check PSA's website.
Does CardRevive grade my card?
No. CardRevive prepares and submits cards. The grader you choose (PSA, BGS, CGC, TAG, PCG or ACE) decides the grade, and no grade is guaranteed.
Do I pay customs when graded cards come back?
Possibly. CardRevive says customs are usually A$3 to 12 per card on cards returning from overseas graders. It pays them and adds them to your invoice. PCG cards are graded in Australia, so there are no customs on those.
How do I protect a card after it is graded?
Keep the slab in a case that covers the whole holder. The Tank fits whole PSA, Beckett, TAG, CGC, PCG and ACE slabs and costs A$34.99.
Getting a card graded takes time and money. When yours comes back graded, protect it once with The Tank.
