Graded-card protectors: compare the main product types.
“Slab protector” is an umbrella term. It can describe a flexible sleeve, perimeter bumper, rigid guard, magnetic display enclosure, framed display or rigid protector format. Start with the physical format—not the category label.
The Tank is CardSurvive's graded-card protector family for PSA, Beckett, TAG and CGC collectors. Choose the grading company shown on your slab and check out securely.
Choose by construction
The same category name can hide very different physical formats.
Use this side-by-side guide to understand each format, then choose the option that suits how you display, store and handle your collection.
| Product category | Construction | Check before choosing | Category boundary |
|---|---|---|---|
| Soft slab sleeve | Flexible film or bag around a grading slab. | Exact fit, opening or closure, material and which slab surfaces it covers. | Flexible construction is not a rigid enclosure or an impact-test result. |
| Flexible perimeter bumper | A flexible perimeter accessory, often described as TPU, rubber or silicone. | Actual material, front and rear coverage, and supported slab version. | The word bumper does not establish impact performance or compatibility. |
| Rigid acrylic-backed or open-front guard | A rigid backing or edge-guard format that may leave part of the slab unobstructed. | Front, rear and edge coverage on the exact product. | Acrylic construction alone does not establish full enclosure. |
| Magnetic acrylic display enclosure | Rigid acrylic panels or an enclosure joined with a magnetic closure. | Depth, coverage, mass and supported slab thickness. | Magnetic describes the closure, not a protection rating. |
| Aluminium and glass or acrylic frame | A metal frame paired with glass or acrylic panels. | Panel material, coverage, dimensions, weight, closure and exact slab compatibility. | Its materials and construction make it a separate display format. |
| Rigid acrylic protector | A rigid protector format built around a grading slab. | Coverage, closure, weight and the grading-company option you need. | Compare the individual product details and intended holder style before choosing. |
Selection guide
Ask five questions before comparing price.
Compare products in the same format, then consider the holder style, package contents, delivered cost and support available.
- Which surfaces does the product cover: perimeter, front, rear, or an enclosing structure?
- Which construction and closure style suits how you display or store your cards?
- Which grading-company listing matches the name shown on your slab?
- How much clearance do you need for your display or storage setup?
- What are the delivered cost, returns policy and support options?

Category questions
Clear answers without category shortcuts.
Is every slab protector the same?
No. The term can describe flexible sleeves, perimeter bumpers, rigid guards, magnetic enclosures, frames and rigid protector formats.
Does magnetic closure mean more protection?
No. Magnetic describes a closure mechanism. It does not establish depth, fit, impact performance or a protection level.
Is every acrylic case the same?
No. That ambiguous label can describe backed guards, joined-panel display enclosures or larger rigid formats. Check construction, coverage, dimensions and closure.
